This privacy policy applies to the Wind2Ride app (hereinafter referred to as "Application") for mobile devices, developed by Yevhen Peshynskyi (hereinafter referred to as "Service Provider"). The Application is a cycling route planner that analyzes wind and weather conditions for rides you plan.
What information does the Application collect?
Location data (with your permission). The Application collects your device's precise location while you are using it. Location is used to center the map, set the starting point of routes you plan, and request weather and wind forecasts for that area. To provide these features, route coordinates are sent to weather services (such as OpenWeatherMap) and routing services (such as OSRM, BRouter and Valhalla) — these requests contain coordinates only and are not linked to your identity. The Application does not track your rides, does not record your movement, and does not collect location in the background.
Account information (optional). You can use the Application without creating an account. If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, the Application receives your name, email address and account identifier from the sign-in provider. You may also choose a nickname. Signing in enables cloud sync of your saved and planned routes and the social features (seeing who else plans to ride a route you plan).
Content you create. Routes you save, rides you plan, and routes you explicitly share via a link are stored in the Service Provider's cloud database (Google Firebase) when you are signed in. A route you share becomes accessible to anyone who has the link. Your nickname may be visible to other signed-in users who plan the same route at the same time.
Strava import (optional). If you connect your Strava account, the Application imports the activities you select as routes. Strava access tokens are stored only on your device and are never uploaded to the Service Provider's servers. You can disconnect Strava at any time in the Application, which revokes its access.
Automatically collected data. The Application collects crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics), aggregated usage statistics (Firebase Analytics), basic device information (model, operating system version), and — if you enable notifications — a push notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging).
What the Application does NOT do
- No advertising and no advertising identifiers.
- No sale of personal data to third parties.
- No ride tracking or background location collection.
- No use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to process your personal data.
Do third parties see and/or have access to information obtained by the Application?
Personal data is shared only with the service providers required to operate the Application, listed below. Coordinates sent to weather and routing services are not linked to your identity. Please note that these third-party services have their own privacy policies:
- Google Firebase (authentication, cloud database, analytics, crash reporting, push notifications)
- Google Sign-In (optional sign-in)
- Apple (optional Sign in with Apple)
- Strava (optional activity import)
- OpenWeatherMap (weather forecasts)
- Expo (application framework)
The Service Provider may disclose User Provided and Automatically Collected Information:
- as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process;
- when they believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect their rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.
How can you delete your account and data?
You can delete your account directly in the Application: open the Profile tab, sign in if you are not signed in, and tap "Delete account" in the Account section. After confirmation, this permanently deletes your account, your cloud-synced routes and planned rides, your shared route links, your profile and nickname, and your push notification tokens, and revokes the sign-in provider's access. This action is immediate and irreversible.
Alternatively, you can request deletion by email at wind2ride.app@gmail.com — see the account deletion page for details.
What is the data retention policy?
Account data is retained until you delete your account. Crash reports and aggregated usage statistics are retained for up to 24 months. Routes stored only on your device are removed when you uninstall the Application.
What are my opt-out rights?
You can stop all collection of information by deleting your account in the Application (see above) and uninstalling the Application. Push notifications can be disabled at any time in the Application settings or in your device settings.
How does the Application address children's privacy?
The Service Provider does not use the Application to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13. The Application does not address anyone under the age of 13. The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. In the case the Service Provider discover that a child under 13 has provided personal information, the Service Provider will immediately delete this from their servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact the Service Provider (wind2ride.app@gmail.com) so that they will be able to take the necessary actions.
How is your information kept secure?
The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. Cloud data is stored in Google Firebase with per-user access rules: only you can read and write your own routes and profile. Please be aware that, although we endeavor to provide reasonable security for information we process and maintain, no security system can prevent all potential security breaches.
How will you be informed of changes to this Privacy Policy?
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes to the Privacy Policy by updating this page with the new Privacy Policy. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.
This privacy policy is effective as of 2026-08-05.
How do you give your consent?
By using the Application, you are giving your consent to the Service Provider processing of your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy now and as amended by us.
How can you contact us?
If you have any questions regarding privacy while using the Application, or have questions about the practices, please contact the Service Provider via email at wind2ride.app@gmail.com.
